MSH has created an excellently equipped research center in the immediate vicinity of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall. This includes a multifunctional competence center for performance physiology research and treatment at the interface between sports science, human medicine, physiotherapy and neuroscience; a molecular biology research landscape for basic bioscientific research and translational research; and research labs for cognitive and affective neuroscience. The research labs are operated by the various research institutes and are supported by a modern data and server infrastructure and working groups with excellent staffing levels.
MSH operates the following types of research laboratories: laboratories for the implementation of scientific projects in the fields of human medicine, sports medicine and sports science as well as psychology. In addition, there are anatomy, multifunctional and wet labs for the implementation of practical courses in human medicine. Finally, skills labs are available to students of human medicine for the practical teaching of specific skills and abilities, for example from general medical practice or radiology.
