- Evaluation study of a digital health promotion program in everyday nursing care
Nursing staff are exposed to a high workload, long working hours and shift work, often at the expense of their own health. However, establishing healthier behaviors within unfavorable working conditions appears to be particularly challenging for nursing staff, as individual health behavior is made more difficult by high workloads and shift work. As habits are automatic, require hardly any cognitive resources and are automatically triggered by certain contexts or situations, they are less susceptible to disruptions such as stress, fatigue or lack of time. The formation of healthy habits therefore appears to be a promising approach for the long-term health promotion of nursing staff.
As part of the study, the app-based health program from Aeroscan provides nursing staff with access to micro-interventions (e.g. short videos with specific exercise suggestions), tips and background knowledge on how to integrate healthy habits in the areas of nutrition, exercise and mindfulness into their everyday professional and private lives. In addition to promoting healthy habits (proximal program objective), the goals are the general improvement of health behaviour, health status and well-being (distal program objectives). In the third-party funded evaluation study, the acceptance, practicability and usability of the app will be examined to ensure that the app is accepted by nursing staff. In addition, the app's effectiveness with regard to the defined objectives will be examined.
