Tilo Strobach studied psychology at the Freie Universität Berlin and began his PhD at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2006. After a research stay at the University of California, San Diego, USA, he completed his PhD in 2009 on mechanisms of optimization of dual task performance as a result of practice. He was then a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of General and Experimental Psychology at LMU Munich (2009-2011) and at the Chair of General Psychology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2011-2014). He was also a guest professor at the University of Hagen and a visiting professor at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria. Tilo Strobach has been Professor of General Psychology at the Medical School Hamburg since 2015.
Teaching activities
During his teaching career, Tilo Strobach has offered lectures, seminars, and introductory courses in the field of cognitive psychology. These cognitive psychology topics were offered to students at the bachelor, diploma, and master levels, as well as in senior studies. Before joining Medical School Hamburg, his teaching was realized at the University of Hagen, LMU Munich, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, and the University of Klagenfurt.
Research interests
Tilo Strobach's research interests include the analysis of cognitive plasticity as a result of training (e.g., video game, dual task, working memory and task switching training) and cognitive ageing. His research also focuses on the specification of cognitive processing architecture in situations with demands on executive functions and in the perception of complex objects.
