Biomedical research, linking basic life science research with a focus on molecular medicine
Health disorders are generally associated with changes at the molecular (biochemical or biophysical) level. At IMM, we conduct research on individual molecules, in the cellular context, and on their impact on cell systems, organs, organisms.
Our goal is biomedical research – combining basic life science research with a focus on molecular medicine.
What we do
- Research with a focus on molecular medicine: cellular perception and signal processing, renal physiology, osmosensing, hereditary vascular malformations, protein quality control and related diseases, molecular function and pathophysiology of ion transport processes, cell networks, electrical and molecular properties of nerve cells, optogenetic methods, molecular neurobiology
- Translational approach in molecular medicine research to combine molecular research and clinical trials
- Development of research modules in teaching – experimental work in the wet laboratory; molecular and cell biological, biochemical and biophysical methods; molecular medical work processes
- Offer of internships, theses and doctoral topics; Participation in the ERASMUS programme and graduate schools
- Establishment of service units for electrophysiology, cell imaging and biomarker and drug testing
