What are the entrance requirements and what role does the grade of my university entrance certification play?
At the MSH, motivation, achievement and talent count and you should bring a high scientific interest. The human medicine study program is NC-free, so the final grade is not included in the evaluation of the selection process.
Requirements:
- Authorization to study according to § 37 HmbHG or
- Course-related authorization to study in accordance with § 38 HmbHG
- In the case of applicants with a foreign study qualification, the equivalence must be determined by the authority for school and vocational training in Hamburg or the authority for science and research in Hamburg

The application
- Fully completed and signed application for authorization
- CV and two recent passport photos
- University entrance qualification-certificate
- Copy of identity card (front and back), foreign students identity card
- If applicable, proof of completed vocational training, previous work or social commitment
- Study book or graduation certificate if the applicant has already studied at other universities
- Letter of motivation (max 4 DIN-A4-pages):
- Which cornerstones of your previous development and which experiences motivate you to study medicine?
- What is your personal career planning, where should you lead the medical studies, what is your goal?
- Remittance slip of the application fee of 200 euros
MSH study programs are NC-free: talent, motivation and discipline count more than the grade point average on the certificate. Punctuality, good performance and commitment during your studies are of great importance.
Note: For the admission of applicants with foreign degrees, all application documents and admission-relevant documents (certificates, Vitas, internship certificates, module descriptions) must be translated into German and these translations must be officially certified. In addition, a »Language German, Level C1« (language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required.
Incomplete application documents can not be considered. In this case, a repeated application process will start a new application procedure.

There is no application deadline at the MSH. You then automatically apply for the next possible semester. Incomplete application documents cannot be considered.

There is no application deadline. However, we advise you to apply early, because if the study places for the current semester are taken, the application will be for the next semester.

What possibilities does MSH offer, if I do not get a place at university?

Anyone who has gone through the admission procedure completely receives
- a commitment for the WS 2020/2021 on availability of seats or
- a promise for one of the following winter semesters with the offer to bridge the waiting period by studying in another medical degree program at the MSH or
- a rejection.
The MSH offers the possibility of bridging the waiting time to the desired medical study place with a Bachelor's degree in a medical field, such as Medical Controlling and Management (B.Sc.), Medical Engineering (B.Sc.) or Sport Science (B. Sc.). The application management team will be happy to advise you on the best possible career path for you.

- 1,500 Euro/month in the preclinical and clinical study section
- 300 Euro/month in the practical year
Not included are costs for scripts, costs of accommodation, travel expenses and additional costs in connection with internships and external courses as well as the semester ticket.

This decision is at your own discretion, as the study of human medicine at MSH is a full-time study with present time and high professional standards.

Where do the lectures and practical training sessions take place?
Where do the lectures and practical training sessions take place?
The courses of the first part of the studies take place at the Science and Health Campus in the Hamburg HafenCity and the practical courses on campus in the Labs at the Harburg Inland Harbor.
All courses of the second part of the study take place in the Helios Kliniken Schwerin. As maximum care hospitals, they offer almost all specializations and very good training prerequisites.
How is the study structured?

The program is a full-time course with a standard duration of 12 semesters and three months.
Organization of the study:
- First stage of study: two years pre-clinical part with medical exam
- Second stage: three years clinical part with medical exam
- Third stage of study: Practical year with medical examination
The three medical examinations are taken before the authority responsible under state law (§ 8 ÄApprO), the state examination office for health professions of the Hamburg authority for health and consumer protection.
In addition, all students must complete the following practical training components:
- three-month nursing internship
- a training in first aid
- a four-month internship
- block placements

Teaching at MSH takes place as a seminar in cohorts with usually 20 to 30 students. The lectures, which are carried out with the participation of all cohorts of one year, include all students of human medicine of the respective year. Practical training in the first stage of study is usually done in groups of 15 to 20 students. The teaching at the bedside includes depending on the content focus three or six students.

Our clinic partners are Helios Kliniken Schwerin, which, as maximum-care hospitals, have almost all specialist areas and thus offer all the prerequisites for science-based training. Especially through their interdisciplinary treatment approach and the structures of the clinics in interdisciplinary competence centers, Helios Kliniken Schwerin is an ideal partner for the interdisciplinary university concept of MSH. For your private medical studies you do not need to travel abroad - Hamburg and Schwerin are very easy to reach by train, bus or car (distance about 100 kilometers). Is the study of human medicine professionally accredited and recognized by the state?

- The Human Medicine degree program is offered at MSH's Faculty of Human Sciences. The faculty has the status of a scientific university and is therefore equivalent to a university.
- The Human Medicine degree program successfully completed the process of Concept Accreditation by the Science Council in 2016 and in 2018 confirmed its successful fulfillment of the requirements.
- The MSH successfully completed the Institutional Accreditation Process by the Science Council in 2017 and was accredited for five years.
- The study at the MSH is state recognized and leads according to the current licensing regulations for physicians to the German state examination - the same degree as all state universities of Germany also.
- The study thus follows the quality requirements of a medical study in Germany with the advantages and possibilities of a private, state-recognized university, which is equal to a university.

The MSH degree is a German state examination, equivalent to the degrees of the state medical faculties in Germany - and concludes with the license to practice medicine. The degree is therefore recognized nationwide and internationally.
How do I obtain the approbation?
How do I obtain the approbation?
Anyone who has successfully completed all the trainings and examinations provided in the Medical Licensure Regulations (ÄApprO) at the MSH, can apply for an approbation to practice at the »Landesprüfungsamt für Heilberufe«. This gives you the permission of the state to be self-employed and self-responsible as a doctor.
