Faculty Health Sciences (University of Applied Sciences)

Interdisciplinary work

In the labor market, not only pure technicians are in demand, especially those in leadership positions, but also those with an interdisciplinary mindset and broad skills who serve interfaces in the workplace, e.g. to economics or to computer science. The demand for skilled workers in the field of medical technology is high and the area remains a growth market, also in the Hamburg region.

The combination of engineering majors in the fields of economics, health management, computer science, medical device law and medicine and the focus of minimally invasive surgery forms a graduate profile, which in the long term qualifies for positions with managerial responsibilities in many areas of the medical technology industry and health care facilities.

Close connection between research and teaching

After completing a first professional qualifying university degree, the master's program in medical engineering provides further, scientifically sound concepts, methods and techniques for solving medically-based problems, taking into account aspects of health economics. The master's degree program is characterized by a high degree of up-to-date and sustainable content as well as a high degree of networking of the various specialist topics. The unique selling point of the Master's degree program is the profile-forming focus area of technology in minimally invasive surgery. This is supplemented by the focus on medical apparatus technology and the economically oriented focus on health management. Within the framework of a close connection between teaching and research, research topics of minimally invasive surgery, artificial intelligence and computer science in medicine are in the foreground. The necessary interdisciplinary cooperation of the actors - both the teachers and the students - can be lived at the MSH on a comprehensive basis.
