His medical research fields range from the transmyocardial laserevascularistion to fundamental research with experimental large animal models in the field of thoracic wound healing disorders by introducing novel treatment concepts into the cardiac clinic up to cathether-based aortic valve implantation.

In the quality- and clinical risk management field, his research focus lies - on the one hand in the application and relevance of quality indicators - and on the other hand in the development of analysis tools for the evaluation of maturity levels of the quality- and clinical risk management systems.
