David D. R. Sebinger studied biology/genetics at the University of Vienna. During his diploma thesis in the field of epigenetics at the Institute for Molecular Pathology (IMP), he conducted research on stem cells for the first time. His passion for translational research and a Marie Curie grant finally brought him to the Max Bergmann Center for Biomaterials Dresden (MBC), where he worked at the interface of biomaterial research and tissue engineering. In collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, he developed, among other things, a novel method for cultivating embryonic kidney tissue. As a postdoc at the Charité in Berlin and at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Münster, he finally turned to neurobiology. In particular, he started focusing on neuronal organoids - mini-brains generated from human stem cells and is now continuing his research at the MSH Hamburg.
