Biography

Professor Bernd Six studied psychology, philosophy und German linguistics at the University of Bonn and completed his doctoral thesis titled »Dimensionen von Organisationen« in 1974. He was promoted to professor in 1980. From 1979-1981 he held a professorial position at the Institute for Industrial- and Social Psychology in Göttingen, he lectured from 1981-1988 at the University Koblenz-Landau and proceeded in 1988 to the University of Wuppertal. Since 1995 he is professor for social- and organizational psychology at the Institute for Psychology at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. Here, he was vice-rector from 2006-2010 for Strategic Development before he retired in 2010. As professor emeritus, he is Head of Department Psychology at MSH Medical School Hamburg since September 2012.

Teaching

Until 1981, Professor Six was professor at the Institute for Industrial- and Social Psychology at the University of Göttingen. He then lectured at the University Koblenz-Landau and at the University of Wuppertal. Since 1995 he held a professorial position for social- and organizational psychology at the Institute for Psychology at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg.

Research Focus

Professor Six works primarily in the areas of commitment and identification in organizations, leadership research, meta-analysis, organ donation behavior, attitude research, attitudes and behavior as well as stereotypes and prejudices – ideological system and value systems.
