Biography

Dr Marion Schmitman, called Pothmann, spent her first 10 years of work in her beloved alpine surrounding, after she trained in Israel and completed her graduate studies in Bielefeld in 2004. She was then reponsible to set up and lead a child and adolescent psychiatric ambulance, day clinic and wards in Murnau in a dual medical / psychological leadership position. In her role as senior psychologist, she was also responsible for the rehabilitation clinic and early intervention center and looked after the quality management. She always loved to combine practice and research, and in 2008 she completed her doctorate on ADHD and social skills at the University of Bremen. At the same time she completed training in child psychotherapy (VT), family therapy and group therapy at the Center for Interdisciplinary Psychotherapy in Munich (CIP). In 2013, she moved back to her hometown, where she worked as the technical director of a counseling center (EFB) before gaining full seat in 2014, which she has until now held in a psychosomatic practice community while serving as a supervisor and lecturer. Questions on her surname often arise ...: It is a historical form of the double name, in which a nominal name was set several generations ago. So she is called in everyday life »only« Pothmann.

Teaching

As early as during her adolescence, she trained volunteer youth leaders in the context of Juleica training. She taught nursing education and serves as guest lecturer on in-house training in social, diaconal and church institutions and youth welfare services. She is a regular lecturer in 2 psychotherapy training centers. Teaching focuses on friendship, social skills, all topics of young people's psychotherapy, grief ...! Since summer semester 2019 she teaches interventions in child and adolescent psychotherapy at the MSH.

Research Focus

After studying motivation for church volunteering while studying, she later researched ADHD and social skills. She developed and evaluated a special training of social skills for children with ADHD with name and motto: TEAM (T-Team, E-Experts, A-Work, M-Cooperation).
