Jürgen Kupper completed his doctoral degree in Biophysics at the Brandeis University in Waltham, USA in 1994. He then worked as a post-doc at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris and as a scientific assistant at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried in Munich. In 1999, he proceeded to Hamburg to work with the Evotec AG. He initially worked as project lead »Zelluläre Assayentwicklung« (equiv. cellular assay development), lead several international cooperations with pharmaceutical companies and was member of the managing board of Evotec Technologies GmbH, as “Chief Operating Officer”.  Jürgen Kupper then proceeded to »PerkinElmer«, a laboratory equipment manufacturer. Here, he coordinated the activities for internal and external product launch, as “Global Product Leader, Live Cell Imaging”.

From 2009-2012, he was commercial manager at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and was held responsible for the guidance and process optimization of all clinics on imaging diagnostics and therapy (radiology, neuroradiology, endoscopy and nuclear medicine). At the same time, he developed the telemedical support for surrounding hospitals. As manager of the ophthalmic clinic of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, he then strengthened the further cooperation of medical doctors and optometrists.

At Bionamics GmbH, he was head of the business development department. Here, he assessed innovative therapeutic approaches by the Academy and of emerging Start Ups.

Since 2015, he coordinates a research project at 2cureX GmbH and the CE-Certification and commercial launch of a diagnostic test that assists in the prediction of medical treatment response in cancer patients.

Jürgen Kupper is lecturer at MSH Medical School Hamburg and teaches Biophysics in the Medical Pedagogy degree since winter semester 2010/2011.
