Biography

Jana Zang studied speech therapy at the Hogeschool Zuyd in the Netherlands. After her graduation, she studied the teaching and research of speech therapy at the University Hospital of the RWTH Aachen. She completed her doctoral studies in the Division of Clinical Cognitive Research at the Clinic for Neurology in the field of multilingual stutter diagnostics. In 2008, she successfully completed the international further education module »European Clinical Specialization in Fluency Disorders«. She then took roles as assistant lecturer in the field of fluency disorders and speech development at the University of Hamburg and as lecturer role at the University of Applied Sciences Fresenius in Hamburg. In addition to her teaching, she worked as a freelancer in a number of speech therapy practices and institutions in Aachen and Hamburg, focusing on fluency disorders and dysphagia- and feeding disorders in children with substantial and multiple disabilities. She continues to hold a specialist counseling role in nursing and care in schools of the authority for schools and vocational training in Hamburg. In 2013, she was appointed professorship for therapy sciences with focus on speech therapy at MSH Medical School Hamburg.

Teaching

Professor Jana Zang lectured in a variety of topics both at the University of Hamburg and at the University of Applied Sciences Fresenius. As MSH Medical School Hamburg, she conducts the seminars Academic Research, Health Psychological Interventions / Prevention, Foundations of Speech Development.

Research Focus

Research focus of Professor Jana Zang is in the field of diagnostics of stuttering, stutter therapy, pediatric dysphagia and dysphagia in children and adolescent with substantial and multiple disabilities.
